Hello. I fish OC Md quite a bit during the summers, but I've been thinking of checking out some Va coastal waters for a change in scenery. I was wondering if someone who fishes these areas could recommend a good spot to try out. I'm looking for a kayak friendly launch, and if I could avoid the crowds, that would also be great. I would be targeting flounder, and I would end up back in OC when the fishing day is over. My ride is a motorized Hobie PA 12, and this trip would be sometime in June. I appreciate any help or hints thrown my way. I've done some digging through the archives and have a few ideas, but figured I would ask as well. I normally wouldn't post, but Snagged Line has such a friendly atmosphere, I figured why not? If you're me, where would you go? Chincoteague? Gargatha? Thank you very much! Good fishing!

Gargatha is a cool spot to fish. It can be crowded on the weekends, but the weekdays aren't too bad. It holds some good fish. Here is a thread with a map I created highlighting places I've had success. . There are other creeks north and south of Gargatha that also hold flounder.

Seaside will be your best bet for flounder, but you can also target them on the bayside. I've caught short flounder out of Saxis, but had to peddle quite a ways to get to the deeper edges where flounder hang out when the water gets warmer.

Check in with Matt at Seakhawk Bait and Tackle in Pocomoke on your way down. He is a nice guy, who is very willing to help you out with current information. He's got a killer inshore tackle selection too.
