CBBT (Sheep! ) Sat 6-13-15
Was on the water after 8 am and caught near slack tide. I later met HokieDJ along the pilings.
I headed for the 1st Island on a pretty good day. Mostly sunny, low wind, calm water, but the air temp was over 90 deg.
Using fiddlers, frozen sand fleas and frozen clam, I used a double hook rig and was looking especially for sheepshead. I did very little jigging for flounder.
Not sure where the other yakers were. HokieDJ and I were the only ones out there on a nice day for yak fishing. Saw a few boats.
Anyway, I caught a lot of croaker, but no flounder. I did land a nice sheepie on fiddler. It pulled my spool nicely (the hook on the sheep's lip was barely on).
Total catch:
- Over 20 croaker
- 2 togs (season is closed)
- 2 toads
- 1 sheepie (20")
A nice day to yak fish, but the current did pick up mid-afternoon.
