Hey...where have you been? Last time saw you was at Cape Henlopen with your 3 big blues...LOL. I am new to this forum but know you. Been out there last 2 weekends having luck on a few keeper flounder when croakers leave you alone for a sec. Will be out there tomorrow trying for Sheeps and Spades.. Will look for ya. In red hobie outbacks like yours.
Yes. Fished today also. Very choppy early. Croakers and toads only. Used croaker to live line and hooked something massive. Did not feel like a ray. Broke me off before I could see it. Very little sleep, so was a short day. Would have been a nice afternoon. Sat should be nicer.
Just saw forecast and looks nearly identical to this morning. Wind pushing chop against current flow will make fishing tricky til about 10 or 11. Afternoon looks nearly perfect. Not sure whether I will head out at first light and fish all day or just head out a little later.

Maybe cobia?
Can't fish this weekend, but maybe next weekend. Good luck!
FYI...... might try my luck at spearfishing... newbie
I started a new job, I worked on weekends, and I was in San Diego.
I just got off the work, and I put the spear-fishing stuff in the truck. From now on, I am carrying spear-fishing stuff - hoping the water is clear. I will spear-fish at the First Island if the water is clear.
I will be on Channel 69.
I will be launching at around 6:30 AM.
I only got toads, black sea bass, croaker, and undersized flounder up to 15 7/8. Decided to try one last quick trip this morning. 17" flounder as soon as I got out there. Got 1 more 18" a few hours later before heading in. Missed a couple more big ones. 20150726_074459.jpg20150726_124754.jpg

Good work on some nice fish, John. Did you search for sheeps? Did Joe spear any fish?
I was getting frustrated with not being able to catch keeper flounder and kept at that mostly. I did try for sheeps and spades a little bit. I only got baby black sea bass, though I did feel some strong hits on clam. My sheep bait went almost untouched (blue crab, no fiddlers available). A guy I talked today said he got a trigger early this morning. I also hooked and lost something pretty large when flounder jigging...felt some head shakes before it came off.
I noticed that aggressive jigging the bucktails would only get me toads this trip. It was like I dropped my bucktails right on their head when I hooked up on the flounder.
