  • On the Boardwalk of Virginia Beach

Next month I'll be in Virginia Beach during the annual Neptune Festival, and I've already booked my hotel on the oceanfront. Looking forward to it, but I've got a few questions.

I know surf fishing on the beach is limited to certain hours, but does that extend to kayaks fishing a quarter mile off shore? Is the fishing any good in that area? If I put a kayak in the water and paddle out a fair distance will I be making any locals upset?
    I need a good paddling

Only Mary Lee perhaps. You might want to check this site before you "paddle out a fair distance" to see if she is visiting VA Beach when you're there:

She was off the coast of North Carolina at 10:00 a.m. today and appears to prefer the Atlantic Coast States.

You may have better luck fishing one of the inlets or the bridge tunnels, depending on what you're after.

If the shark has a damn name, I'm not going out there.

        Bridge tunnel it is!
