Sunday 11/1
Left the Fairfax area around 6 to arrive at the ships around 10 after grabbing breakfast. Was on the water by 10:30 and fished the ships for tog until 5 or so using quartered blue crabs we brought from the local asian market.
Fishing was slow with nothing to show but a couple of shorts and oyster toads on the calm side since the bay side was a bit choppier than we were looking for. Saw a couple of other anglers on the water and they were experiencing the same: shorts and oyster toads.. One guy managed to hook up into an octopus two times within the same day lol
Stayed at Shore Stay Suites for the night, for $98 after tax we had the room for us three with the option of a fourth person. Hotel was really clean and roomy with a full kitchen.
Monday 11/2
Was on the water again by 9:00 to catch the slack tide. Fished the bay side as it was a lot calmer than yesterday. Didn't see any other anglers out there, probably due to the forecast (it was raining all day). The bite was definitely better on the bay side with tons of oyster toads and a couple shorts mixed in between the three of us. We only had time to fish the left cluster of ships, I'm not sure if the right side would have been any better.
All in all, it was a fun trip, definitely a new experience for the other two since they've never really fished saltwater before, especially for tog and on a kayak. Too bad there were no keeper sized togs for us to take home... My friends did however take a stringer of oyster toads for his family to eat, not sure if they were any good though since I've never had them.
