Got out on the water shortly after sunrise today at CBBT. Hooked up on a nice sheepshead early. Put up a good fight for a 20" fish. Fishing was slow after that with slack current, then low tide. Saw some folks catching tiny little spades out closer to the island. Maybe the larger ones will move in soon. I will probably be back out there in the am.

Nice going John - I went out the other day and only hooked the usual suspects before work. I'm headed out there tomorrow morning and Rudee after.

A couple boaters have been catching spades consistently at 2nd island, so hopefully they move in closer soon.

8/5. Really cool pre sunrise light show this morning. It was followed by an unimpressive sunrise. Pretty much downhill from there. Conditions were good for a while early, but fish would not cooperate. I was barely even getting bites from bait stealers. Headed out to 2nd sbc and messed around with a few small spades. Got 1 hungry little triggerfish--it actually followed the bait almost out of the water and then proceeded to get hooked when I dropped the clam back down. Started getting snotty about 8:30. Went to the island and conditions did not look too bad for a 2nd island run. Decided against that idea and pedaled all the way back to 1st sbc, dropping a piling here and there in the choppy conditions. Saw some spearfishermen bring up a couple medium sized spades in a spot I have fished a little these past 2 days. Not sure why they would not take bait. Called it quits early after fishing 1st sbc without any bites.
