Question about Woodrow Wilson Bridge

I plan on heading out tomorrow for blue cats for the freezer, I dont have access to anything other than shrimp rn and was wondering for those who have been there if its possible to cast net around the launch area for shad to use as bait (American and Hickory are illegal to keep correct?).

People on this board have used raw chicken breast for bait at that spot and done pretty well!
