Thinking of a family trip to Va Beach next weekend. Should I bring the yak?

If so, how should I bend a rod? What's biting? I'd love to troll in the Atlantic if it's not too rough.

Always yes It's going to depend on the weather and the amount of time you have to devote for where you may think about fishing/what you could target. Eastern shore barrier islands have had some reports of large black drum being caught there. Tog can be found at the CBBT and other inshore areas will produce specks and smaller drum. I don't think I would recommend trolling "in the Atlantic" (assuming you're talking about a beach launch) as it's dangerous this time of year and there's really not much to catch right now trolling in the ocean from a yak.
