We will be down for the next 10 days. Splitting between skiff and kayak. Hopefully things are still hot on the Flounder front. If they have moved it's time to explore new territory, I will keep posting if anything is good.

Fished Saturday in skiff with niece and her new husband in am. Falling tide with little wind. 7 keepers to 2.5 hrs. Shallow water in areas of flushing marsh and edges. Fished same tide Sunday with same results. Did not keep any this time. Had a kayak crab event. Lousy 3 crabs. Oh well? Guests leaving For the day so will kayak flounder today. Will post . Mark

Fished Monday with wife and two dogs. Kept two fish for neighbor. Falling tide in shallows. Fished Tuesday for a couple hours on rising tide. Tried three or four different areas. Croaker, blues, blowfish. Amazed to hook and land a cobia about. 28". Quite a surprise in 7' of water. Moved to known flounder hole. Caught and released about 10 keepers. Even managed two double headers of 15" fish. Thought I had bubba. Have a bunch of kin to take fishing for the next few days. Will be fun. Mark

            Unfortunately back to work.
Fished every day 9 days straight from the skiff. Better success on falling tide. Caught keepers on every trip. Lost about 30 sets of rigs fishuing in structure. Trashed a reel after dropping into sand ( Seahawk is rebuilding). Did not use Kayaks as I pulled a muscle in back. Burned 15 gallons of fuel. Managed to get a 24" Cobia while jigging for flounder. Biggest flounder 22" caught against grass beds. Entertained the familly fishing in the morning and beach in the afternoon without a problem. Will be at it again this Saturday weather and budget permitting.

Went out to Chincoteque today with my boys. A good day caught for all with couple of stripers one was 32”. One of the crew also caught a nice sheep. I was able to catch a limit of flounder with the last two coming after my paddle broke. The will make for an expensive dinner.

Well done on the flounder. I hear there are some nice sheeps there

It was a high coefficient this past weekend too; it must have been brutal trying to get anywhere with a broken paddle. Hopefully you had a spare and didn't have to oar around with the broken one.

I did not have a back up paddle but won’t forget that again now hoping to get some help from bending branches for a fix for my paddle

                      Hi,

i've never fished in that area before so where exactly do you launch your kayak? Also for the sheeps are they next to the pylons under that bridge in the picture behind you?

                      Thanks,
                      -Doan

Any piling with good water worth a try I seen a citation caught last week off the town pier. Kayak launch by Highschool or Queens Landing on causeway. Town put in a launch in Memorial but they will hound you to get a ramp permit.

I've launched at Eastside ramp and the Town Dock ramp too without a permit and nobody has ever bothered me about getting one.

Kupo, any dock or bridge with water deeper than 5 ft. around it could potentially hold sheep. Add in oyster beds or marsh banks with a steep edge or an eddy where old marsh banks have collapsed to the bottom and you'll see there is a ton of structure around Chincoteague for them to possibly be. You really can't go wrong going out of any of the launches in town if you don't mind putting in some work prospecting around for them. Especially if you are already familiar with sheepshead fishing.

If you've never sheepshead fished before than there will likely be a bit of a learning curve.

I would not risk the ticket. You can but a sticker for $20 bucks and get additional stickers for $1. I have been checked countless times. I have seen the Ramp guy give tickets, ask people to go buy permits and asked them to leave. When I have company and we take multiple yaks out I park the visitor car in front of my truck showing the sticker and block the car. It's their job to monitor the ramps. I'm glad they do it. Worth every penny. There are 5 convenient ramps to use.
If you do not get the sticker, park in front of the High School. Its a short paddle to the Blacks Narrows bridge. The pilings are a good bet for Sheepshead. Assuming that the wind and tide doesn't cause issues I will be trying for flounder this weekend. Good Luck.

If nothing else I am consistent. Same vacation time as last year.
Took last week off and fished every day. Only fished from the kayak one day, drifted from American Legion to the High school and got three keepers in an hour or so. Kayaks do have a noise advantage. Fished the other days from my skiff with wife and dogs. Before the storm flounder were really cooperative jigging. Day after storm they were a little harder to get. The remainder of the week they were few and far between. Water temps dropped.
House had shingle blown off, easy to fix but way high off the ground.
