ESVA Sheepshead

I gave sheepshead a try for the first time this summer at the end of last week and I was happy to see they are in. I didn't get many bites, but hooked up with a 24" and 26" on sand fleas. Both were very strong fish. If you're out and about on the seaside it never hurts to have a crab or two with you to drop on any structure you find just to see whats down there .

Yeah, the 26" pulled like a stud too. It had me all over the place trying to keep it out of the structure. I don't mind not getting many bites if the few I get are quality fish.

I kept the smaller one for the grill.

I took a half-day this past Thursday to try again for a few hours around Chincoteague. It was a slow day overall, but I finally got the one bite I was looking for and yanked up a 23.5". Otherwise, all I caught were a toad, a very small tog, and black wills pecking away.
