I was using 6/0 Circles I only lost two rigs because I got broken off after hooking two fish, but that was with too light of line. I think I may try J-Hooks next time I think I might have a better hook up rate.

I was using eagle claw 4/0 circle hooks. Im wondering if I would have had better luck hooking up with the Gamakatsu hooks.
At ships we don't loose rigs. At CBBT I lost 15 qverage, and the kayak damage is much greater than the ships.
I think 1 out of 7-8 tog pulls, not tap tap.
I think you could be limited out both days with 3/0 or 4/0 J hooks. After all, setting hook decisively is the funniest part of the togging to me.

I'm a bit surprised you guys used circle hooks because you usually don't jerk the rod on the tap tap. But it worked.
I use 3/0 J-hooks, but I think 4/0 should be just right.2015 Hobie Outback (yellow)

Here's what I made with one of my Togs:
Tog fish taco with cabbage, tomato, onion, chives, and my baja fish taco sauce.
I cut the filets into strips and fried with tempura batter.
Yum!
