Tautog at Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, VA (Nov 17, 2021)

Another belated fishing report.
After a long break due to a family emergency, I am fully back. I can fish once a week. So, I went to Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, VA for tautog (blackfish).
I had fresh shrimp and frozen blue crab for the baits. They are equally good. But, very fresh shrimp (for human consumption) is always available at my hometown Korean groceries at low price.
I eventually caught 4th keeper after taking the video of 3 tautog on a stringer.

Deep water. Forget near 1st SBC and 2nd SBC and also all pylons around 1st Island. !st SBC and the 2nd SBC is after February. The shallow water was out . At the first island, construction has been going. Towering Cranes (above my head) are kept putting columns and pouring water 360 degrees. Not safe. GO straight to 2 Double narrow pilings. fish only for3 hours. Start 1.5 before incoming tide change and stop 1.5 after slack tide. Warm out-going tide is the best for 1.5 hours.

Important Tips 1: Fish Out-Going tide after slack tide. The water is warm. Core fishing hours: .1.5 before incoming tide change - 1.5 after slack tide. you have one chance. Sun goes down arounfd 4:45 PM.
Important Tips 2: This may be more important. Avoid this moon phase if you are picking only a very few opportunity. Current is strong when "Half Moon- New Moon- Half Moon.
Important Tips 3: Pick Moon Phase "Half Moon- Full Moon - Half Moon". Current is mild to fish Pylons. Full Moon Phase is the best. Avoid around the New Moon. The good fishing hour is about 2 hours around the full moon phase due to super strong current.

If you have time, Go to Rudee if you care about puppies and specks. Puppy and specks will be bite until Christmas. But it's still tough.
