I needed a tautog for chirashi for ladies. Though, the wind was too strong for fishing CBBT (Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, VA) in the morning. While waiting for the mild wind in the afternoon, I fished Owl's creek (Rudee), in the morning for speckled sea trout. After I caught 2 specks at 20 and 22 ", I went to Chic's Beach (the launch spot for the CBBT. The wind was down, so I launched the kayak. I caught 3 conger eels, 7 toadfish, and 9 black sea bass. I managed to catch one keeper tautog at 17" out of 7 tautogs. The water is still too warm for tautog. The cold front moved in this week will help the tautog fishing, I hope.
I learned that the good size specks were scarce of 2 weeks. The specks are still hanging between Lyhaven and HRBT, I think, because the water is still warm. Specks aren't heading for South yet.
Fishing log:
Thanks
Joe
