Flounder and Spade at CBBT, 08/20/23, No Sheepshead

This year, I got a bit smarter. Instead of fishing for one target species, sheepshead, at the same time, I could fish for flounder and other good species.

Drifting after the bait hits the bottom has been making a huge difference. Somehow I managed catch flounder, 3 out of 3 sheepshead fishing trips. I caught flounder last two times because my bait was shrimp. This time, I added a 4" soft plastic minnow to the fish-finder rig.

With shrimp and the soft plastic bait on the rig, I managed to catch another nice flounder at 23" when none of us (9 kayakers and 7 boaters) got skunked when fishing with fiddler crab for sheepshead.

That's a nice flounder. Always a good idea to switch up your gameplan to go after multiple species instead of just one. I've saved lots of trips that way.
