  • Virginia Beach Wind Management?

I want to try a learn the Virginia Beach fishery this year as it was always a dream of mine growing up and was thinking about starting this weekend with Rudee Inlet. Unfortunately the weather isn’t looking great with rain in the forecast, but have a raincoat to mitigate that.

My concern is the wind. Currently this weekend is forecasting SSW 12-15 mph winds with gusts up to 26 mph.

Based off my research I have heard that Rudee is decently protected, but would it still be fishable in this wind? At what point and direction does Rudee end up being unfishable?

    Thanks in advance

Rudee is like a small lake. Casting a light lure against the wind over 12 MPH will be difficult. Plastic lures are OK under wind at 15 MPH. When casting isn’t good, troll.

Since you already went there you already learned.
You went when puppy drum and specks already left the area. Big chopper bluefish already left for OC and DE.
You probably caught small specks and small blue.
Rudee and Lynhaven are done until October.
    Fish like there's no tomorrow.
