Kipto TKAA Tournament Sat 9-29-12

For the tournament, I was planning to go to CBBT (had two dozen fiddler crabs), but the water was too choppy and the wind was 10+ mph. So the fiddlers and I came to Kipto. I was on the water about 7 am. I saw MKF guys Martin, Dave, Jim, Don, and Keith. A few other yakers were there too.

Overcast with some rain. At times, somewhat choppy. A bit cold in the afternoon. We were all off the water by 1 pm.

My catch:
3 togs (12, 13.5, and a keeper 18")
1 sea bass
1 sheepie (12")

Needless to say, my catches didn't win anything at the tournament.

Maybe some of the other guys want to report their catches.

Errr.....ahhhh.....ok......I don't see the other reports rushing in......so....

- A father/son team on PAs caught at least one keeper flounder (18")
- This other yaker said he caught small fish
- Jim caught his very first tog (12")
- Moc caught some stuff
- HokieDJ caught a keeper flounder (I think 17")

This thread suppose to be for guys who fished Kipto, Matt. But you have such a cool blog with nice fat specks that it'll add some pizazz to their thread

I had a good day of catching just no size to speak of.
All fish under 16 1/2"

Found the flounder and landed a bunch of shorties but 1 ended up being 17.5 and so I got my dinner. Hooked on 2 togs but lost both on the way up and then I ran out fiddlers. They didn't feel like keepers anyways. Besides the wind that wasn't forecasted and the rain, I some how had the mother of all birdnest on my freshly spooled 50lb braid baitcaster. I ended up cutting up the entire reel that night. That was an expensive Saturday.

expensive saturday it was...snapped my $200 rod tog fishing at kipto, spent way too much money at oceans east on crap i didnt really need.....and i'll probably be down there again next weekend lol good times!

I think your speckled trout, is a gray trout/weakfish...

Correct sir! And in VA, there is a 12" minimum on Grey Trout and you are only permitted to have one in your possession on any given day.
