Initially I live-lined the bluegill under an eel float right off the bottom (dropped down, reeled a half turn, set the float) and then let the bluegill drift. I had a nice long slow pull / pulldown but the bobber did not release and the fish let go. It killed the bluegill so I cut it in half, ditched the bobber and dropped it back down.
