they hold tog but tog are most active with water temps in the mid 50 degree range. When you the water creeps into this range its game on.

He's right. I've heard people catch tog in waters as low as in the high-40s deg. Personally, I would not waste my time until the water is warmer.

The togs you hear being caught now are caught many miles offshore in deeper water where the water temp is warmer. Even out there, depending on the conditions, togs can get lockjaw.

          Thanks for the info...sigh
I know its too early, but serious cabin fever here...
I thought about getting on a charter, but hack! why not just wet my boat instead (I thought).
One other reason is I've got a little one and one baking...wifey is going to inlaws this weekend and this weekend only...haha do I need to say any more?
Can a guy just go fishing without this and that measured up?
Tufnik, I envied you last year with amount of time you spent on the water...and always appreciated the reports.

I know your feeling about cabin fever. Hang in there. I too am yearning for pullage via the yak. So, until the weather warms, I'm trying to do boat trips but the weather keeps forcing cancellations.

I understand your kids/babies situation too. My kids are all grown up now, so I don't have to take them to Chuckie Cheese or the zoo anymore. That's why my wife gives me fishing passes almost every weekend.

I'm looking forward to fishing for Tog again this spring, but as others have said, right now I think its still a little early. I'm hoping temps get up enough by the end of the month to get in a trip.

                    Ryan,

Do you think the water will be warm enough in late march? I was planning on going for tog at chsp.

There is also the meet and greet next weekend... That's a sure way to alleviate cabin fever!

Why not fish with us at the Severn Meet and greet? VA Lic. works there, should be fun. Target species is chain pickerel.

It has in past years, but every year is different. Only time will tell.

                            Won,
I will try CBBT or Kipto for the heck of it next weekend if I don't work. I want to smell saltwater/wide open water smell.
Usually the March-April weather really sucks. That used be the issue for the upper bay kayakers. We just can't plan when the weather doesn't look good on Friday.

If the wind is too much, I will try Lake Anna. Otherwise, I will head for Kipto/CBBT. Let me check first. I think only one person is enough for early March togging.

                            Joe

I just might head down as long as wind keeps low and the sun keeps on shining.
