    CBBT 4-27-13, Sat

I was on the water after 8 am. Met HokieDJ there and we headed for the 1st island on a very nice day. Mostly sunny with light breeze. There was no other yaker out there.

By mid-afternoon, I had caught only two small toads. Nothing else. I then received a marine radio call from HokieDJ saying my honeyhole produced a couple togs for him and that I ought to get over there ASAP. He then had to leave for home.

I reached the spot later in the afternoon, and the wx turned suddenly bad. Chops were up 2+ ft and the winds were up too. It was pretty tough to fish the pilings, but I managed to catch two togs (19 and 16.5"). I wanted to catch my limit (3), but the wx went further downhill so I had to quit.

Pic: Got a pic of the tog in mid-air flippin' off the hawg trough.

    CBBT 4-28-13, Sun

I was on the water after 7 am, and it was a near perfect morning. Near-glass water, blue sky, sunshine, light breeze and about 50 deg. Forecast was going to be a nice day. I even heard people on the marine radio say the day was going to very nice. Duh, not so.

Fished with blue crab and picked up only two toads. Just after 10 am, the wx then turned sour. Chops were 2- 3 feet, wind was 15+, and the current all of a sudden became strong.

WHAT?!?! This was not suppose to happen.

It was very hard to hold position near the pilings, but I was determined to fish. So, I endured the wx and fished for nearly three hours. It was not too much fun. It was all about fighting the wx, not fishing. I got a wet ride and did constant pedaling in the pretty strong current. All my effort was a vain. Nothing. Not even a bite. Of course, it was tough to even feel the bite with the rough wx.

So, was tog-skunked. But I did catch two toads. One other yaker caught and released a 21.5" female tog. Two other yakers were skunked.

I finally hit shore well before 2 pm. My legs had a pretty good workout....lol.....

You are a beast! I'm glad the honey hole produced for you too. I wanted to stick around to catch more but time was running out for me so I had to head in. I tried floundering at the SBC but there was nothing and I was just tired by then.

When you go this coming weekend. Stick to the shallows for flounder. I would try that wise point ramp area for them.

Yeah, I was worried about not catching anything there because the water/wind was rough. I stuck it out and got hook ups. You should have seen it - I was bangin' against the piling, rockin' up and down, getting splashed on and I get tap-taps.....lol.....

I was going to call you Sat afternoon to see how you did on flounder because I was thinking about going to HRBT to jig for them too. Decided to come back to CBBT.

They are catching them in Rudee but not consistently. The water clarity at the CBBT was decent so I hoped there would be some lurking there but it wasn't meant to be. I would bet if we were at kipto at flounder alley, they would be hanging there. The water is usually clearer there.

Nice catching and sticking out the weather. That looks like a monster toad!
