Was on the water 0700 hrs. A bit breezy, but pretty nice day.
Man, it was a zoo out there. Lots of jet skiers, shore anglers, touring and fishing yaks, fishing boats, police boats and tourist boats.
Jigged around the island, along the grass edges, along the docks, along the jetty and rock barrier using bucktail, Gulp mullet, paddle tail and twister tail.
Caught a short flounder and a keeper puppy drum. Talked to a lot of anglers. They caught short flounder, croakers and specks. Nobody I talked to caught keeper flounder.
Two interesting things. There was an acrobatic plane tearing the sky up. It was pretty loud on the low passes. Lots of trailing contrails in the sky. There was also a seal that seemed to be playing in the small surf and sandy shore near the inlet. Every now and then it would go for a swim and pop his head up from the water. The next thing I noticed about two hours later was the motionless seal on shore. Some folks cordoned off the area around the seal. The police boat was flashing blue lights about a hundred feet from shore. Apparently, the seal died. People gathered to look at it and take pictures.
