Anyone going out tomorrow? Weather looks great, mostly sunny with low wind, so I was thinking of fishing Pohick. Low tide is at 2pm so I'll be there around then. Also made a quick "rope lure" (youtube it) for all the gar that I have been seeing so I might throw that out if I start to see them.

Hmm, I had no idea about the tournament Khanh, that sounds like bad news for for a lone kayaker. Where can I find the tournament schedule so I know next time?
Well, I might have to go check out Dogue or Little Hunting Creek then if Pohick is going to be packed with fishermen... decisions, decisions.Jake

I've seen a lot of posts on here related to Pohick... Seems like a great place to fish. Do you guys fish there regularly? I'm new to kayak fishing and am trying to figure out some of the better locations in NoVA. My kayak is currently stored near Lake Burke, but I've heard that Lake Burke is heavily pressured and the Occoquan Reservoir (Fountainhead / Bull Run areas) can be hit or miss. Any other suggestions? Also, like d16daily, I am interested to see if there is a site listing tournaments in the area? Thanks for your help!2013 Hobie Quest 11

Ended up fishing Dogue Creek for about 2 hours yesterday afternoon. Water was low and very stained with not much action going on. I caught 2 tiny bass on 4" senkos and definitely spooked 1 snakehead as I paddled over him. 3 boaters came up the creek while I was there. I paddled down until I saw the marina then headed back up to the Grist Mill where caught my last bass under the bridge where about 20 people were having a picnic The bass was long, skinny, and had a big head but probably weighed only 1.5lbs.Jake
