Can anyone provide a fishing report for Pohick bay. With in the past week. I was planning on going this Friday, the air temp is supposed to reach the low to mid 80s . I know the bite was slow two weeks ago but I wanted to give LMB and snake head fishing one last try. The alternative is two hit the upper Potomac for smallies.

I tried couple times last couple weeks, it was really bad. I don't recommended, especially there is a guy with the air boat that run around and ruin everyone day.

this is from the 16th. http://www.potomacbass.com/

"Top water action remains good around grasses as well as rocky areas. We prefer to use poppers over sparse grass areas and buzz frogs or grass fogs over the thicker grass mats. A stick worm rigged wacky style and worked in the open holes in the shallow grasses can produce larger bass. Creek ledges in front of spatterdock fields are a good place to catch a limit of keeper bass when fished with jig worms and finesse worms. Rocky banks and isolated rock piles are showing more bass in the cooling waters that like a crank bait bounced across the rocks. Color seems to make little difference. Marina dock piles have more crappie on them now, that the water is cooling, that will take the standard crappie tube or action tail grub. We coat ours with a crawfish scent Smelly Jelly fish attractant."

Water Temperature: 75 degrees; Water clarity: 1-2 feet.
http://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/dat...rmat=View+Plot Looks a little high from the full moon. If the wind is right you may be able to run a manns 1 minus or a wake bait over the grass. Fire tiger or shad colors.

            Ed,
I'm thinking of going out on the UP Saturday. If you made it out on Friday, how did you do?

Bruce sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I launched at riverbend park, great falls, Va. I paddled up stream. This was my first time on this portion of the river. I caught 4 SMBs and lost a 5th due to a broken line at the knot drag was not set properly. I was throwing a green pumpkin salted tube. I also got a number of strikes on a green pumpkin 5" Yamamoto rigged weed less. next time I go out o am going to pick up a 4" senko and rig it wacky. Hope this helps. If the river is not to high I may head out this Friday.

                Ed,
Thanks for the report. I did get out on Sunday at Lander with my son for 3 hours in the am...we quit at noon. We used tubes...green pumpkin and rootbeer. We tried several other lures but the fish weren't interested in them.

My son got 3 smallies all under 12". I caught 3 smallies and 1 largemouth...all between 12 and 15". I was surprised that I caught the largemouth, especially since it hit my tube lure while I was doing a fast retrieve to clear the line of grass. Can't explain why my fish were bigger than my son's...just lucky I guess. But on second thought, he was using about a 2" tube and I was using about a 4" one.

It was a beautiful day to be out and we only saw a couple of other fishermen.
