  • a 30" weakfish, a bluefish and a bunch of reds - Rudee, Apr 23, 2014

The wind was too strong in DE, MD and VA. It wasn't fish-able at all in the Chesapeake Bay and Delaware Bay.
So, I picked Rudee Inlet, the good backup as usual.

The first fish I caught was a 30" grey trout (weakfish) followed by a bluefish. Later I caught redfish in several different spots.
I released the weak fish immediately because they are almost endangered species in VA and MD water.

The white/pearl color were the best for the day. Except the deep part I intended to catch something (weakfish), the best jig head were 1/8 oz plain lead or white color. Red head jig head didn't do well. 3/16 oz was also OK.

I put all my fishing info into the video log:

Congratulations on a 30" trout. You don't see them often.

Congrats on the unicorn Joe! Also, looks like all the snakehead fishing has paid off, you were nailing that shoreline edge!
      Used to fish more.

Releasing weakfish was decided a while back when Redfish12 said he released a rare weak fish he caught. I was in such a hurry, I forgot to take a picture of it. But I don't regret.

Big ones seem to be rare but there are a ton of 12-15" Weakfish at the HRBT at times. I guess some of them have to get big.

Congrats on the weakfish Joe. I was out there Friday and saw someone pull up a 20incher also.

Great report and Vid, I guess I missed all the fun camping in the backyard with the kid instead of floating Rudee. Good job!
