    Fly Fishing After Easter Dinner - Pond

    Happy to catch these Easter fish on the fly. They ate a sinking spider I tied up over the winter.
    I had 2 or 3 more crappies that came off as I was stripping them in.

    I tried to catch some shad on the fly but Mattawoman was too muddy and they did not like anything I had to offer......sadly

      I have been wanting to catch shad in Mattawoman. 5ish years ago, I saw some up where the creek narrows. I might have to investigate a trip down there this weekend.

        It's hit or miss......I went 0-4 at the plate yesterday.

          Nice to see the bluegills are active.

          Good catches guys!

          The Free State Fly Fishers are running a bluegill tournament this year for members. No money involved...just glory.

          Our current leader is a 9 inch fish that was caught in DE on a surface fly. I don't think that will hold but it's a good target to shoot for.

            Kevin - Nice face shield. That looks just like the one that I use. Having the mesh section next to nose and mouth helps to reduce glasses fogging.
