  • Edison Fly Show

Had a great time today at the Edison, NJ show with my FSFF guys (Mark, Rich, Luis, Tom, and Ryan. Saw some great speakers, tons of tying stuff, picked up a 7wt rod at a great price. Even the drive up, and back was good! Bring on spring!!

Lots of fun yesterday for sure. I added a 5 wt. to my arsenal, not that I needed it but the temptation was too great.

Many of the rod and reel vendors offer special show pricing below retail for their gear (and no tax). If you know market prices you can do quite well. Plus, as John mentioned, the speakers are top notch covering every fly fishing topic/destination imaginable from brook trout in Maine Ponds, to smallmouth in Pennsylvania Rivers, to bonefish in the Bahamas. I saw guide booths from Australia, Ireland, Cuba and Canada, and representatives from the great rivers in our western states and Alaska. Additionally, casting demos and instruction are available and nationally known fly tiers share their skills continuously throughout the day. Finally, Hobie was present with its new 360 drive as were a number of drift-boat and float tube makers. In short, it's an incredible show.

The event continues today and tomorrow in Edison, NJ. Another iteration of it will be in Lancaster, PA on 7 and 8 March.
