  • Personal Best- Black Crappie

A bunch of Free State Fly Fishers headed to a Delaware pond today for some action. Overcast skies, air temp 64, water temp 54 and a gusty west wind made locating spots difficult. I did manage to land my personal best Black Crappie-12" on a red Leach on my 6wt. It was a fatty.

Found a few Blue Gills near the launch using my 4wt. They were caught on a Squirmy Worm. Never used it before, but after watching some videos on You Tube, decided to give it a try.

Nice crappie. Looks like it’s getting its spawn color on.

              John,

It was killing me that I couldn't join you yesterday.

The weather was perfect and obviously the pond was obliging.

              Very nice crappie.

I'm looking forward to my next DE visit -- so many pretty and productive ponds; so little time!
