  • Found a Crappie

I didn't know there were any of these guys in the pond...well, there is at least one, and I put him back. I had zero luck all morning, other than enjoying the quiet. Which, is quite the reward in itself. Lots of ducklings, goslings and turtles. After not hooking up with anything, even the normal greedy bluegill, I stopped in the corner of the pond where the inlet is. It's a 3 foot concrete culvert which is normally have full. I just dropped the fly in like a jig and it immediately received a flash of white and was gone....

The small plankton is eaten by grass shrimps, crustaceans, and minnows, which are then eaten by crappie. Algae grows on the older docks, which attracts baitfish, which in turn attracts crappie. Most importantly, docks are best when its sunny and hot.
