  • New Small Creek Tenkara

I have driven over this small creek for the past 20 years. It feeds into a slightly larger flow that I know holds smallies. This creek runs through and along the boundary of a large suburban housing neighborhood. Nobody fishes here. Nobody, except this Tenkara fool.

A crayfish imitation made with some bead chain eyes worked great. I caught 3 sunfish, about 6 fallfish, and that one beautiful smallie.

The water was crystal clear. I knew showers were on the way, so I fished for about an hour before the rain came. I will definitely come back to this small creek to do more exploration.

I saw lots of minnows and they seemed to like to scoot around and rest on the bottom of the creek in schools. I also observed some crayfish, so the habitat looks pretty decent.

Nice. Looks like a relaxing secluded spot....and it has fish...SCORE.

Thanks Chip. I'm eager to get back to that stream and do more exploration and fishing. It's close to home, unpressured, and has smallies and sunfish.
