Santa gave me a Gopro for Christmas and I had a few mounting questions. Right now I have a 1" ram ball in the mast hole, this was used for an older camera I was using, a Kodak Zx3 playsport. Had a few ram extension rods to get the camera closer to the bow of the kayak because the camera did not have a broad viewpoint. I ended up scrapping the mount because the ram ball was really shaky at the stem just below the ball...ended up making a mount out of electrical conduit.
I would like to use the previous mount for the GoPro, I think the camera is lighter than the Zx3 but I have a feeling it's still going to be shaky. So my possible solutions without diving into the wallet was:
1. Use less of an extension ramrod to leviate the weight of the Gopro, but will I still get a nice point of view, not zoomed in too much.
2. Purchase a 1.5" ram ball and conversion stem back to 1" to utilize the rest of my mount extensions.
3. Scrap the ram ball and get a scotty mast mount which I could not find on the internet.
Or any other ideas would be appreciated...I am trying to get as much foot pedaling out of the video but I have a feeling it's inevitable.
Thanks!!
