The battery box that I made to run my hummingbird helix 5 CHIRP SI GPS G2 is working far better than I expected. I made this box out of 2 Blue brick batteries that I ordered from eBay and a waterproof parts storage box that I got from the Home Depot. Also I used and assortment I wire connectors a few pieces of wire in a small Digital voltmeter. During the winter I tested it inside and it ran continuously for about 13 hours. Since then I have fished back-to-back days for over six hours each with very little voltage drop. And just put three trips totaling over 14 hours over a week span without a charge and I was still reading 11.2 V. It only weighs slightly over 3 pounds and cost about $80 to make.
