Congrats on the dry top, John. What did you end up getting?
Bill, the ICOM M-36 does the vibrating clearing of the speaker.

An Icom or Cobra VHF will be on my list for future purchase, but it's not in the cards right now. One of the Cobra models can be linked to a cell phone, which is pretty cool.

I bought the ICOM M-34 last spring- it works fine, floats and vibrates the water out of the speaker...doesn't answer my cellphone, though...it has a high rating for reliability and toughness...but most of us aren't hard on our electronics, so that might not matter much.

Got the M-34 too, Ron. Been using it on the yak for over 2 1/2 years and it's still going strong. Great radio!

Four Trevala S's? Is that enough?

MetroMan, I may try those Glacier Gloves too. Thanks for the tip!

glacier gloves are prob the best gloves ive used on yak. they are a bit thick but they work better than any other gloves ive bought. even when soaked they still keep your hands warm. ive tried aqua skinz gloves and they are crap.

It's hard for me to pull the trigger on it without seeing one in action first.
I installed one of these this past year. In a word... awesome! It's really, really good to spot structure "over there". I find the GPS feature especially useful to keep on track along a channel edge. I like the larger screen size, too.

As for Christmas mine arrived early. A Shimano Sustain 2500 AND a 4000. Very nice...

i think 1 of every weight trevala S and 1 XXH Trevala F.

Its hands down the best Tog rod and with the trevala F i can handle upto 1lb of weight. You never know when you're going to have to fish in a tsunami.

last time i was on a tog charter i used some of my homemade 11oz concrete sinkers, the current was so strong i had to add 8 more ozs and still was pulled way out and couldnt feel the bottom. my cabelas 7' h salt stick with 30lb braid was handling the weight fine

to fix the snapping pvc, drill holes through each joint and insert bolts or stainless clips. If youve seen my yak loaded to the gills, the PVC holds, although it would do better with a solid 1 piece axle.
