Does anyone know if navigation (red and green) lights are required for a kayak with a motor operating at night?

Yes. BUT many advise to not use the red & green lights so an oncoming power boat wont assume you're as manueverable as he may be and expect you to be able to get out of his way. The white light (only) will give the impression of you being moored, making the powerboat drive apt to alter course to avoid you.



Notice their only distinction is "power driven vessel". With no distinct clauses to address/separate "kayak", I interpet this as being all-inclusive.


That being said, Im adding a red & green light with a switch so I can turn it on/off when needed.
