I wont buy one. Everytime it goes off ya need to refill which like u said is around 24 bucks plus depending on the brand. Ive never re armed 1 but i have customers ask me all the time to do it and we cant cuz of liability issues. I had a life jacket on board but dont wear it really (its the ascend one). My perspective on it is if ya flip ya got a 12 ft life jacket to hold on to (the kayak itself) i havent flipped yet and im gonna try not to jinx it.
