  • Got Slip Discs?

I almost exclusively use scotty mounts on my yak. These are a much welcomed addition to my mounts, making adjustments soooo much quicker and easier! Ordered from ACK as always...

I have a pair of rocket launcher rod holders so what do these do exactly?

Today's post by MetroMan and one in December by Redfish convinced me to try some slip discs. I ordered 4 pairs from ACK this afternoon. I was really impressed to get a phone call 10 minutes later from a staff member there telling me that they were temporarily out of stock and would not be able to ship the order until Tues or Wed. The lady asked if I could wait that long. I did not need the parts in a rush, but want to recognize ACK for customer relations above and beyond the norm.

Man I swear by them 110%. Mytmouse and I joke, saying they they give you your tracking # before you even submit payment. The best company I've dealt with since I've began kayaking. The one time I ordered something that was missing a part, the missing component was overnighted with a free t shirt.

Looks like a good product. I'll look into getting some to make adjusting my rod holders easier.

Has anyone had any unwanted slipage say under a hard strike or snag while trolling? They look nice. Sure would beat spinning it all the way open!

As far as I know no it does not slip.

I recall a thread on these slip disks a couple months ago and someone said they make the scotty's easier to adjust and still hold tight.

Without the scottys you dont really have to worry about slippage. The slip disc makes it easier to adjust your rod holders when on the water

While I haven't used them in a real world fishing scenario yet, I've tried to make them slip (by hand) while tightened. I was unable to do so. I highly doubt they will slip while fishing...especially since the rod would absorb most of the load.
