So I've looked around and read up on different ideas for rigging a fish finder. I store my kayak upside down on the top of my jeep when I'm transporting it. And a lot of times I load my kayak up on my own so when I'm sliding it up and onto my roof racks I don't want to have to worry about damaging the unit by bumping it or even something happening to it while I'm on the road.
So I figured I wanted to set it up where I could easily pull it off the deck when need be. I think I'm going to go with the idea of using some industrial strength velcro to keep the unit on the deck. I'm only running a garmin echo 150, so it's not very big and heavy. I've seen a couple other people mount their FF to the deck using industrial velcro and they've said it worked.
Anyways on to some questions I have
1. Has anyone here mounted their FF this way?
2. What kind of adhesive would I want to use to put the bottom of the velcro to the deck? I have no problem with the velcro piece becoming a permanent part to the kayak
3. Does anyone have any other suggestions for setting it up in a similar way that the unit can easily be taken off and on when transporting?
Thanks dudes.
