Friday Change of Plans

The boss man gave me tomorrow off for my bday, of course Friday has gone from 1 foot, to 2-3 building higher after lunch. The forecast is worse down by Breezy and Chessy beach. My game plan was to troll tomorrow, and bottom fish for Croaker on saturday with Chuck. They are saying it should be decent in the AM till lunch. I also had a radio on order from west marine but they shipped it late and it now won't be here until tomorrow evening. So, that said, I am considering launching from Matapeake in hope of finding cleaner water then I would at SPSP. The latest satelite imagery has been cloudy, has anyone been over the bridge recently and seen how bad it still is with the recent rain?

So Matapeake, SPSP, Or.. do I stick to my guns and launch from breezy or chessy beach early and just watch the forecast ? Always have a hard time making a decision after my main plans are jeopardized by weather.
dhmjd's fish gives me hope that fish are around up there still..

we fished the bridge sunday out of spsp. water clarity was awful. didnt mark a single thing the entire day really. trolled the channel north of the bridge on the west side and around the bridge. jigged just about every piling from the eastern shore rockpile all the way back to sandy point. dont know if that will help your decision or not....

I was going to go fishing today but it was too windy- high tide at Cobb Island is 5:35 p.m. tomorrow afternoon so from daybreak until 11:20 will be a falling tide...if I go it might be after noon and I plan to be fishing live bait, so I will have to catch some bait. The clarity of the river is stained brown even as far down as Cobb Island.

Some friends caught a couple over 40" Wednesday morning off of Bloody Point near the shipping channel, of course they were on a boat.

Prime Time

My goal is to catch a big trophy Striper this spring from my new kayak- I figure that tomorrow is another opportunity for me to put in my time on the water- if anyone thinks you can just go out and first time catch a big one- yeah, it happens once in a while to those lucky ones, but more often is putting in your time on prime water with live bait soaking hour after hour with the right tide just putting in your time-

Thanks for all the input! I will be taking it easy on local fresh water by home, avoiding that South wind. Occoquan or Burke, both a 20 minute drive at most. Decided to be lazy and safe.. Saturday looks much better, interesting they are catching croaker up the Severn..

I figure the south wind after a full day of heavy NW wind should be OK where I am fishing. If conditions aren't what I expect, you can believe I won't go out. Safety is rule number one for me. While the OK Prowler is designed for the conditions you see in salt water, I am not going to see just how rough I can go out...it is different if you get out and conditions change unexpected, you have no choice at that point but to tough it out and paddle though it to get home.

The surface water temps were close to 60 degrees last time I fished the Bay, so croakers are coming in the Bay, despite all the fresh water from storms.
This cold snap could drop the temp a degree or two but the sun in the dark water is warming up the shallows and outgoing tides trigger bites.
