Thank god you guys didnt put the CBKA tournament together like this. These rules are so vague, is trolling from the yaks allowed or not. I would assume that in keeping with the light tackle theme it wouldnt be but with the kayaks all bets are off.

Outsider looking in.... I think the kayak portion of the event is pretty new and the only real restriction is that it must be caught on hook and line. I do not believe anyone, other than kayakers, acknowledge the term 'kayak trolling'. So as long as you are in a kayak with hook and line and not being towed by a boat it seems like you're good to go. Make sure someone asks though!

Again, I'm an outsider looking in on this one, but that's my guess. I got rulers for the VA guys who asked for them... They are 48" and made of WOOD!!! That's going to be interesting.

Fly & light tackle. Trolling with either should be fine. Artificials only. No bait, no live lining.

I missed that... Fly, light tackle, and kayak. They don't say kayak has to be fly or lt... Maybe they will clarify at the captain's meeting. That just killed my bridge sprint for live-lining!

Seriously.....wow. I thought the three divisions mean that in the fly div obviously fly fish. In the light tackle again obvious but the last of the 3 is kayak division I took this to mean if u can do it from a kayak go for it. Hmmm have to wait til the meeting tomorrow.

For those without a Queen Ann ramp permit an option is Kent Island Kayaks launch. I spoke to CDollar and we can use his floating dock to launch. It's at Wells Cove Marina Dock A. There's a finger pier with a floating dock at the left corner near a little grassy area. His rack of 8 kayaks or so is there. All he asks is that, after unloading to park closest to the street. And of course, be courteous, quiet, etc as there may be boat owners sleeping on board their boats, people from the condos walking dogs, etc. The marina manager has been made aware...

decisions. decisions, where to fish romancoke or the Narrows. I am leaning toward the narrows in the morning then moving to Romancoke once boat traffic gets heavy.
Don't know if it works until you try it.

well put 4 miles on the skunk highway yesterday at romansuck went up the shipping creek channel zig zagging through 23-30' of water up to shipping creek then over to turkey point and back out front of the pier. marked fish occasionally but no bites did have a lot of spare time to play with the depth finder and fine tune it though.

the party at the Jetty was nice. a lot of shorties hanging around. out of 7 kayakers no one had a keeper losers. but free beer and pig is ok for me

A nice event and a fair MKF representation. Myself, Redfish12 (Michael), Surfdog (John), Eastonkayaker (Bryan), Tucked In (Chris), Pinch (Jack) and a new guy we met, Casey (not sure if he's signed up for the forum yet). He was determined with a fly rod and did manage a decent rockfish.

Unlike our brethren to the south none of us that worked the Narrows visited with Pepe' Le Pew http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_RZ1...eature=related).

No keepers but everyone picked a couple. I think Bryan might have been high hook with 5 or 6 rockfish to 16". I only got one rock and 3 perch to 10". I think all of the action was at the northern end of the breakwater south of the Narrows bridge. We worked the bridge, hit the sod backs and even entered the Chester but no joy. The winners of the event were in boats and I think most ran way south where there may have been some saltwater!

Well, we did have some winners. Since none of us kayakers caught a keeper they did a raffle and Redfish12, Pinch and Eastonkayaker won nice prizes! Congrats guys! These tournaments are a lot of fun. Met some new people and can't go wrong with free food and beer!
