What kind of depths are you guys fishing? Looked like you were just pulling deep divers...I've been out on Erie up by Conneat for perch, but we were about 3-4 miles out in 60-70 ft of water. (On a charter)

From sept on deep runners are the golden ticket. For browns we are mostly in 10-40FOW. For kings it's the same in the fall...Milwaukee harbor is about 40 feet deep so it's kinda nice.

During the summer we'll go a mile or two out which puts us from 75-200fow.

Lake Erie scares me. It kicks up so fast!! But the walleye are huge and plentiful. Might take the jog over there in the spring after the coho bite is over.

I grew up in Minnesota and made money during summers commercial fishing up on Isle Royal.. even in the summer that was COLD. This video brings back memories of pulling in gill nets with ice forming on the boat, having to stop and chip it off, then pulling the next net. That was for Lake Trout (mixed with some white fish). This time of year they would be in 150 to 200 FOW... that is a lot of net to pull, would probably kill me now.

Yea I don't know how the Minnesota folks do it. I like to think I'm tough until I see the weather reports for them haha.

I don't know what my deal with lake trout has been this year. Haven't touched one all year. Hopefully my next couple outtings will produce some!

We routinely go out in that kind of stuff, but its for chasing birds. It was so cold the one morning I forgot to tie my boots and knelt down and my knee was partially frozen to the boat ramp.

If you want to fish in the winter this is the year for you. Waterfowling it piss poor as its too warm and its still too cold for some of you Sheilas to go out.
