Cannot wait for this cold weather to run its course and be over. This winter is very unproductive so far, not much crappie, not much yellow perch. I don't know exactly why. I hope this trend does not extend to the spring snakehead.

I am afraid the glory days of fishing for snakeheads may be behind us....I just saw this at bass pro the other week. If the bow hunting pressure continues they may soon be wiped out entirely. Enjoy it while you can!

Hello beautiful!.......I was thinking of getting a bow...it is called the Wishbow'n made by chirico archery....

Handle this little gem when I went to the Harrisburg outdoor show. Very lightweight.

They can't be entired wipe out but it will be even harder to catch one with rod & reel. I prefer to to fight them with rod & reel, where is the fun in aim & shoot?

I would advise against that bow contraption, can't imagine it being very accurate and if it's not accurate what good is it. There is a reason target bows are longer than hunting rigs, and that thing looks like a sling shot.

Snakeheads have got to be pretty difficult to hit with a bow as it is. They don't have much of a profile, say compared with a carp. All bow fishing does is remove the larger fish that are easier to hit, I promise there will still be plenty of small ones. Personally I've never been bow fishing, but a friend of mine shoots carp religiously in Utah, and said they mostly remove the larger females. I do shoot 3d archery though, and a snakehead is more like shooting squirrels than deer.

You are right, they are tough to hit because they are deeper at night then other fish. I went out with a friend in the early fall, but we only saw one small one. Tons of blue cats, though. He has a friend that would go out every weekend and shoot 100+ pounds of snakehead... even in November 2014!! He would sell them up on DC. So there is an established market for them, which means their numbers will go down.........people are only going to be targeting them more and get better at it now that there is money involved!

Well I intend to fish for them. Don't have a true desire to bow hunt for them....

I didn't mean to rain on your parade, lol. Just hate to see anyone lose money on something that doesn't meet expectations. It's actually a pretty innovated idea, just not sure about the practicality of them yet.

That's a hell of a price on snakeheads though, for $14.99/lb they probably will be targeted pretty heavy.
