I couldn't stand my rod leashes, they always got in the way. I now use rod floats.

What you make your floats out of?

We're gonna miss you Saturday, Rob. Hoping to make them all sore mouthed by Saturday evening.

No leashes for me, but I use cable cuffs on my rod holders to lock the rods not being used into the crate.

The flats are super muddy right now, which spells trouble catching fish. The rains have flooded down through Conowingo. Turbidity over 10 and it's hard to catch fish. The turbidity stands at 25 right now and rising, downright terrible, which will look like chocolate milk and about an inch of visibility, if that :-( It's a major bummer. The Potomac has been the same way lately. Between the rain and the wind, the amount of chances to catch good fish have been slim. If you fish tomorrow, your quest will be to find clean water.

I bought a length of the smallest diameter pipe insulation they had at Lowes/Home Depot, cut 8" lengths and zip tied top and bottom above the rod handle. On piece of pipe insulation is enough to put floats on 8 rods, total cost less than $5...as opposed to three custom made floats available for purchase at ~$12.

I wonder how a little cut bait will do down at sandy point

if you use razor back clams they work great for live lining bait ( spot) and u can get some nice size croakers in the summer

Zbennet, too early for spot or perch in that area. Shore fisherman are catching on bloodworms off the beach at sandy pt. might try trolling or casting south towards Annap. In the flats. Most small fish still in the rivers chasing the big females.
Know the regs if your keeping anything.

Fresh menhadden or bloodworms should work.

Good luck guys, the good news is that high flow means high spawning success rate. Hopefully we'll get another good class for 2015

Already landed one in the first 5 mins out here. Hoping the chocolate milk treats me the same way for the next couple of hours
