Febraury Meet and Greet---Saturday 2/6/2016

sorry guys, my buddy and I will not be making it up there this weekend. We (a total of 4) went up this past saturday and slayed them. I want to thank everyone who gave us some insight on how to catch these guys. We got up there around 930 and had some trouble finding a cooperative launch for the skiff. We put out on the perryville side. it is absolutely insane, the amount of fish that are down there. while my buddies FF was not marking much, we kept getting them back to back. One of my buddies was fooling around with his ice fishing pole and caught that blue catfish. we didnt have anything to specifically target the cats, so maybe you guys should. This was our first time targeting these perch. For those going who have not caught these, dont expect much. They have little to no fight, and just feel like you have snagged something. BRING EXTRA RIGS, we got snagged in the rocky bottom a couple times. luckily we had purchased several other rigs. minnows and very small curly tails work.

We got our minnows at Herbs tackle in North east. Not sure if anyone is coming down from that direction.

I am going to call Bowleys bait and tackle in the am to secure bait!

***They are open late on Friday and open at 6 on Saturday

I would appreciate a half pint as well if someone is making a run. I may not get to the launch till about 730. If that's a problem for distributing the minnows then I'll figure something else out. Thank you.

I talked to Bowleys, they are ordering extra bait for Friday. I'll pick up for the guys who have responded to this point. If I am in the water by the time you get there, there will be a 5 gallon bucket or 2 in the back of my truck for you to take dip out what you need!

Hey Ed,

If it is not too late, can you please pick up a pint for me which I will split with my friend. I'll do my best to be there by 6:30am. It's 1 1/2 hr drive from my house. How many minnows are there in a 1/2 pint? In case I get there later, I don't want to take more than what I'm paying for. Will you crack open your window so I can slip money through?

Glad to have you onboard! If minnows are on short supply, do not hesitate to experiment with small plastics. I mostly use plastics and save the minnows for last resort. Sometimes the perch are finicky and live bait can give you an advantage. I strictly use 2" Berkeley Power Grubs with a good lathering of smelly jelly. Pearl is my most productive color.
