I'm in favor of prayer in general, but I don't get too worked up about long range forecasts. .....if it is raining lightly that is unlikely to stop me....I'll already be in waders and drytop

Yeah I would prefer a rainy mid 60's day to a windy day in the 30s anytime.

Looks like the long range forecast is calling for 64 degrees, and only morning showers and with 8mph south winds.

Seems like I remember a day at Piney with rain...and 100 mph winds and tornados...Bill and I were worried about you making it in- remember? You beached the Gift Horse about a mile up creek on a lawn...

The brown "spray" shows an area Ictalarus and I explored this year that we think would be great...lots of submerged wood close to a deep channel

Capt Mike here and you guys are going to have some fun. The area just south of the yellow in about 24 feet of water is where you will find me anchored on 80% of my catfish charters. I have no idea if a kayak will anchor in that deep of water but if can you will need at least 4oz of lead to hold the bottom. Standard big monster catfish rig is a baitrunner with 50lb braid and a soft tipped heavy rod. Fish finder rig with about 28 inches of 40 lb mono leader. The hook I use is a an 8/0 Gami wide gap circle with a slight offset. The offset is very important.
Bait I prefer is fresh mullet as it stays on the hook best and has that sweet fish smell. Nothing smells like victory in the morning better than fresh mullet.

                              Have a blast guys.

                              • Yeah Capt Mike. It is hard to anchor that deep but I had success on that edge setting up in shallower water just before it and setting off a fish bomb. It really pulled them up to me. Of course that is current/tide ' dependent
