I hope everything works out Joe so that you can make it up. It will be fun.

So, I'm a little reluctant to ask, but do you think there would be any problem using cut nails (masonry nails) to anchor down my tent? They wouldn't need to be nailed in far and they would be easy to remove. All that would be left are tiny holes that would disappear after the first rain.

Sorry for all the tent anchoring questions, but the tent I'd like to bring is large and anchorage very important. Trying to use weight is not going to work, not to mention it requires about 30 stakes. I have a plan B, but that doesn't include a tent.

      Thanks

Just find a patch of grass somewhere. That's what a lot of people do. Plenty of space along the sides of the tarmac.

From the looks of the area and previous posts, it sounds like those fill up pretty quick. This tent is 6 meters in dia and probably double that with guy ropes.

I don't recall seeing anyone using spikes on the tarmac, but you might consider asking the tournament directors. Last year, I tied down an EZ Up canopy using four 20-lb barbell weights by tying one weight to each corner with parachute cord. It worked great.

You might be able to do something similar with your tent setup. Perhaps you could use filled 5 gallon water buckets for your weights to help minimize the load you need to haul to NY. You could also park your car on the windward side of the tent to help block the wind or as a tie down point.

seems like slot of you are fishing this tourney. I read that you are allowed to fish anywhere east of the bridge, so you are only allowed in that area? or are you allowed to fish oceanside?

Ocean fishing is not permitted. You must stay in Jamaica Bay, east of the bridge.

I am forfeiting the registration fee. I can't make to J-Bay. I got the final schedule for the office move on Fri-Monday next weekend. On the Friday night (May 13), I have to set up my work station for a Saturday night software deployment at work.

                      Good luck guys.

Big Blues and a few stripers. One of us caught a 42" striper. I will let him do the reveal.

Pretty good top water action on the blues. Biggest was 38". Managed to catch a couple stripers and to leave there unaccused. Another great time at jbay!
