I use it for flounder 90 percent of the time...30 percent the rest of the time. I have watched a lot of videos lately of good fisherman using the left handed model. I could see the advantages if i could get use to it, especially for LTJ. Any way i'm not getting any younger, so i ordered a curado. If i like the L.H. model, i'll have some really nice R.H. baitcasters to sell.

Another thought. Kayakers have a lot to deal with using their hands. A traditional baitcaster requires you to switch hands. A left handed BC'er or a Spinning does not require changing hands.

I just picked up a Abu Revo SX HS from Greentop Sporting Goods and used it for the first time yesterday- after getting the casting controls setup (took me one backlash) I had no other backlashes casting 1/2 oz. chatterbaits and unweighted 4 inch Zoom flukes yesterday in the creek- the distance was very impressive- very smooth reel- 11 bearings and a 15 pound carbon matrix drag should be what the doctor ordered-

Guessing you are right handed, so you can work the jig/lure with your dominant hand. I can definitely see the advantage of that. I've been looking hard at those curado 200s. Just picked up a carbonlite conventional and I think they would match up nicely. Now I just need to come to terms with the price.

As far as baitcasters I really have not made the switch to them for casting. They really shine when you are doing things like bottom fishing and bucktailing fluke. It is much easier to drop back to fish and accomodate for changes in depth. I've also found them to be more sensitive and powerful because the line goes straight onto the spool.

I heard the Revo SX is an excellent reel, Ron. For that size, at over 20# drag, it's awesome.

It was on sale at $149- I had been looking at low profile reels for a while and I have a lot of Abu's so...

seems like the most popular ones are the curado's and the abu revo's


the only time i used conventions were for trolling and surfcasting. i used spinning reels on the kayak. now, i prefer baitcasting reels. i find them easier to jig with than spinning reels and are much lighter. 90% of my reels are conventional now.

i played with a couple cheapies at dicks to figure out if i want left or right handed...i have no clue which i like better. i would think using my left to reel would benefit so i dont have to change hands after a cast. to be honest, with the trigger finger, both ways felt odd. my saltist 30 are right handed and im fine with them on trolling rods and surf rods, but these low profile baitcasters got me confused..lol

I really like my Abu Revo SX HS- it casts like a dream and is smooth as silk- so when I saw Cabela's had the Shimano Curado 200 E7's on sale yesterday I ordered one at $119.99- I need another bait caster like a third armpit, but it is a good deal-

As far as left vs. right hand- I am used to shifting from casting to reeling in one smooth motion with no elapsed time- it is one motion for me as the lure/bait hits the water I have the rod in my left hand with my right on the reel handle- don't even realize it happens- instinctive after fifty years- got my first Pflueger President when I was 15- back then the rod was made of steel-

Apple's actually pretty good about that, if it's within 30 days or so they will let you trade up to the new one. Might be worth a shot to customer service.

I am using it right now, Redfish, and it was several months ago that the new MacBook Pro came out- not bitching- this is a great laptop and it is less than six months old-
