Well out was out with Surfdog crabbing and exploring the crab alley area. We did catch a dozen crabs between the two of us. I used mostly 6 topless crab cages. Surf used the hand line technique. We were only out from 6:15am to 10:00am. Surf and I also caught 1.5 inch Rockfish, the smallest ever and Surf caught a few spots and perch. Around 9am I had a mishap. My left steering cable on my Hobie Revo snapped causing my kayak to turn suddenly with no control. This caused the crab cages that I was just finished stacking to fall into the abyss, never to be seen again....at least they were old cages.
Now I got to get my steering cable fixed under warranty before the OC M&G. I guess I will be seeing if Eaton Kayak can fix it quick so I can make the trip with Pinch. I called Backyard Boats, but they said that they would have to ship it to their WoodBridge location to fix it. It would take a week and a half. That is too long for me, since I want to make the M&G. So I guess I will be heading to Easton Kayak on Monday after work. It should be a simple repair. I would look into doing it myself, but it is under warranty.
