  • Robbed

Well I am starting my day out right. While fueling my unit I was robbed of all i had on me by a guy in a van. I no longer have a phone so if anyone calls me Its turned off. Also lost my watch and my wallet. But most importantly was my phone which was my lifeline. If I had your #s I now need to get them from you again. Feel free to personally IM me with them if you wish. Especially I need Surfdogs #. If you would buddy send it too me via private IM and I'll call you tomorrow. I wont be able to afford a new one till next week some time... Payday. He got about $160 in my wallet and my CCs. All have been turned off as has my cell. Surfdog, I will drop off your orange bucktail to your mailbox tonight.
    Thanks folks,
    Tom

Dude that blows and I hope you are okay. Property can be replaced, it's just a PITA. What area did it happen in?

      Tom -

That sure is rotten luck. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

yeah, that really sucks. while at a gas station a few years ago, while i went inside to pay, someone stole by dewalt bag with all my cordless tools in the back seat. i always lock my truck, but for whatever reason, i didnt that one day, at the one exact tiime. i was only gone for less that 3 minutes. about 700 bux in cordless tools

call up one of your credit cards, some may reimburse you for your losses, especially if you purchased the loss product with that card.

Hey man, that blows....really sorry to hear that. I know the feeling. Someone broke into my parents shed, when I was a teen and stole my very expensive mountain bike. Losing the bike was bad enough, but it was the very first thing I bought when I got a job. It's a shitty lesson to learn that people are assholes and will take what others have earned.

Did he just take it from your vehicle or actually mug you with a weapon?

When you say fueling your unit do you mean fueling your ambulance? If so that is the lowest of low for someone to rob someone driving an ambulance. Sorry to hear about this, but as long as you were not hurt that is the main thing that matters. Someone stole my GPS unit out of my car the one time I forgot to lock my doors a couple of years ago. It is not a good feeling. Hope you are able prevent any residual damage with your credit cards and phone...

With the bad recession and so many out of work, robberies have skyrocketed- people are doing crazy things and it is dangerous out there- I have been especially careful and don't fuel up in places or at times that leave me exposed, as your seems to be pretty typical- car jackings and robberies seem to happen at gas/convenience stores all the time now- I am sorry you had this happen to you- but the main thing is your were not harmed- I deliberately keep my on hand cash at fifty $ or less and use ATMs sparingly- that seems to be the other place they get you- when you are visiting a bank drive up or walk up ATM-

These predators are lurking around looking for their next victim- we just need to be mindful of that and take every precaution because human life is cheap to these thugs-

                            That is the worst....

The good thing is that you are ok.
As others have mentioned make sure you call your credit card companies, and your bank to report the lost cards. I would also check your credit rating to make sure No New Credit Cards are applied for. Not sure if you had a smartphone or not, but if you did, they could have access to your email information. I investigated robberies in the city for a few years, and most thieves did not attempt identity theft. Most just took the valuables and threw the wallet in a trash can or dumpster near by.
I’m not trying to scare you, just something to monitor and keep an eye on..

                            Glad your OK
