I use to fish Gifford Pinchot State Park from a canoe, but I haven't been back for a decade or more. I'd put in at the way upper launch and fish the pads, spatterdock and milfoil. I had a few good trips for LMBass but not enough to keep me coming back.

I don't recall particularly large bass but I do remember good numbers of them and a mixture of LM and SM at lower portion of the lake. The SM were predictably near rocky and gravelly areas.
The cabins were furnished and had kitchens which made them great for hosting fishing outings. But, they sat on a high hill overlooking the lake which meant you couldn't pull your boat up to your campsite like we do at Trap Pond in DE.

Yeah, it’s shallow but I’ve caught plenty of 2lb - 2.5lb LM in there, then tend to be lean so they are decent sized bass and fun to reel in. Here’s a random from last year.

I'd estimate that ramp is about 2/3 the length of the lake from the shallow area you mentioned. It's the closest ramp to the dam. It's a nice area to fish with big boulders partially exposed along the edges in several areas to target. There's also riprap at the dam which holds fish.

Question - how do you have your better secured and how did you mount the transducer? I saw a suggestion to use plumbers putty on the transducer and I had some so that is what I used. I also had some old corrugated plastic lying around my shop and used caulk to make a level floor. Haven’t figured out the battery yet. Got a 2AH one. Thin but prob 5” long.

It is firmer and sticks better than the plumbers putty. I installed mine more in the middle of the kayak near the little storage hole near the seat.

I’m talking about the 6-8” storage hatch right in front of your seat area. I placed my transducer from that hole and run the cable to the front. Not sure if the placement makes a really big difference or not in showing what is directly underneath us.
