  • Nov 10 Meet and Greet-Smith's Marina

Just wanted to start this thread up, and I will add to it as we get closer to the date. I got the OK from Smith's Marina that we can have our Meet and Greet there, and the cost of launching kayaks is $10/vehicle (not $10 per boat as I thought previously). So, if you want to carpool, you could potentially save a few bucks.

I'm going to attend if I can.

I've never fished that portion of the Severn.

Well I'm glad you sold it haha but to be fair, this was on the books since early this year. You are welcome to use my backup boat Steve (my sit-in). It's actually pretty roomy and I think it's about as good as it gets for a sit-in, and I've caught a lot of fish in it. Just get the solo skiff between now and then so you can show it off. Or a PA, or a stik boat.

Yeah I don't really know the area, so I'm open to suggestions for places to eat. I know the water fairly well, I've probably fished Round Bay 10-15 times, but the land is a different story.

Last year and the year before, fishing was usually good and sometimes great in that section of the Severn. I had good luck there this year in the winter-spring, but after May the fishing really shut down in there, and I'm hoping it's picked back up now that the water is cooling down.

Yes. I've heard good reports of catches in the upper portion of the river in the spring and often wondered how those stripers got past those of us who launched at Jonas.

I hope to keep my calendar clear for this M&G.

Steve get the StikBoat - You can tow my PA at MACH speed!

P.S. - Herald Harbour Hideaway is SUPER close to Smiths. I've eaten there with John Veil, may be slightly cheaper (and definitly closer) than RH Roadhaus. Weekdays they open at 4pm, but weekends then open at NOON. Just offering another suggestion... As long as the food is hot and the beer is cold, I dont care where we eat...

Michael is correct. The Hideaway is very close to Smiths. I have attended a few Severn River Rod and Keg Club meetings there. There are two other restaurants/bars as you head down Generals Hwy toward Annapolis and Rt 50. I like the Ramshead Roadhouse, in part because I live close by. The Lures restaurant/bar is located at the traffic light near the old Crownsville State Hospital and is owned by Chuck Soja, an angler (at least he was before he became a restaurant owner). It is likely to be more expensive than the other two places, but it offers an unusual list of craft beers on tap.

I'm definitely going to keep the calendar clear for this one. Round Bay has only yielded one good fish for me in about 5 tries, but I know Pat has had some excellent days there. I'm looking forward to it fellas!

I would like to attend. Always been hunting in November in the past so let's try fishing instead!
