Hobie Mirage Drive Recall

On the old V1 mast you could make adjustments with the thumb knob and screw on the top part of the mast and there was an adjustment on the bottom part. On the new V2 there is no longer a adjustment on the top part of the mast, its only on the bottom part.2017 Hobie Outback - Camo

This has been a good thread.
I didn't know the fins themselves were different on the 2017 drives.
I knew there was a problem with the shifter cables and I learned that Hobie corrected them in 2018. Otherwise, I would have foregone the 180 drive when I purchased my new Revo. But as I stated before, I'm glad I got the 180 and I have had none of the problems listed here.
If there's a lesson for us it's that any mechanical changes to our boats even from popular makers sometime take time under actual use to prove their reliability.Mark

I went online looking to buy some new replacement mast for my Turbo Fins and I found out they don't make the Mirage Drives with the thumb knobs anymore and it has to be replaced with the Mirage Drive 180 V2 update kit which cost $255!!! To sum up a frustrating story... I found out there is a recall on the early productions of the 180 Mirage Drive Fins (V1 to V2 upgrade). I received my free upgrade kit in the mail today and am about to start the change out. I don't know why Hobie doesn't advertise this because I happened to stumble across this info on my own and probably would have never known if I hadn't damaged my Mirage Drives. I hope this info helps the people who have the V1 Mirage Drive 180...

Took my drive from my 2017 PA-12 to Backyard Boats in Woodbridge today and they replaced the fins and 180 drive pull cords. No charge under warranty. They were very nice about the whole process and kept me updated when the parts would be in.
