I’m in the same boat here. I’ve been looking at new yaks since late last year. I demoed the Big Rig HDFD and didn’t care for it. It’s very heavy. It took two people to move the darn thing. I also tried the Pro Angler 14 and the Outback. There is so much room in the PA14 it’s nuts. I was able to stand up no problem first try. I did like the Old Town but the Hobie was much easier to peddle than the Old Town. Hobie’s design is effortless to paddle versus the bicycle style of other kayaks.

As a “big guy” over 230 pounds...I love my Hobie Outback, the SUV of fishing kayaks...it is truly a fishing machine...every Fishing kayak is measured against the Hobies...” it is just as good as a Hobie, only costs less” is the refrain you hear...A Hobie is a Hobie...

I have an old town predator pdl. It is an amazing craft. sold my 2018 hobie outback for it and dont regret it one bit. It has a 500 pound weight capacity
